Day 3 ~ 99.08.25 ~ Exploring
the Village of Stone Pt. 2
After downing a pint at the Robin Hood pub[10] and stopping at the Priory
Fish Bar [11][12], I returned to the hotel bearing two take-away orders
of fish & chips (with mashed peas and curry, of course).
Since the area is so famous for its pottery trade we took a short drive
to the Wedgwood Factory [13] which offers tours to the public and houses
an on-site gift shop. The countryside was beautiful, the factory and shop
were intriguing, but the weather did not cooperate -- it rained for most
of the afternoon cutting short our potteries loop.
Clearing skies prompted another look around Stone: a snoop through the
abandoned station grounds [14], a river walk, a stroll through residential
and industrial areas [15], a jog through a park, and a return to the Crown
for a pint [16] before bedtime [17].
